Hard to fit like the catalog picture!
Date:January 19, 2014
Alas, I got seduced by the cute catalog picture, and thought the review complaints did not apply to me as I am very petite. The dress would have been much better without the wide uncomfortable elastic waistline that did not fit at the right place for most GH reviewers. Also, the green is not as dark as pictured, and looks more like washed silk. I feel that the silk is too thin for the price, even though the dress is polyester lined. Thanks to GH's excellent customer service, I quickly exchanged it for other items.

We're happy to hear you took advantage of exchanging. Why not consider a wide belt to hide the elastic and create more definition to the waist?

Blouson with elastic waist, short skirt
Date:November 22, 2013
I liked the fabric (a not-too-shiny silk), the fact that it was lined but still had a soft and casual effect, and the V-neck and relaxed raglan sleeves. But the cut of the dress did not work well at all on me. The length from shoulder to elastic waist was too long (for reference, I'm 5'4", with an average-length torso and somewhat short legs). This created a blouson look, with a significant amount of extra fabric hanging over the waist and hiding any belt I used. Additionally, the skirt was too short: the picture online shows the skirt as only slightly above the knee when the belt is at the model's natural waist. The one I got was nowhere near that length: it was well above the knee, even on someone as short as me. If you're taller, I think the skirt would be very short, unless your hips are straight enough or you're low-waisted enough that the elastic waist rides much lower on you than it does on me. All in, it was a very bulky, unflattering look on me. I suspect it might look better on someone with a straighter figure who could put a belt over the elastic waist at their hips. For someone with a defined waist, it would have looked better if it had no elastic waist so you could position a belt wherever best suits your figure. I wish this one had worked, but I do appreciate the good customer service Garnet Hill provides when you have to make a return.
