Some days are made for cocooning — and for this cozy robe fashioned from the softest French terry imaginable (the inside is brushed for even more plush). The dramatic shawl collar runs from neck to hem, inviting you to wrap up and relax. Unique back seam detail. Self-belt. Calf length. Cotton/poly. Imported.
Runs small. For best fit, order one size up.
I ordered 2 sizes up as suggested in a review (WAY too big) and then returned for 1 size up as is suggested on the website. The robe was still big, bulky at the neck as described (it actually made my neck sore at first) and overall rather blah. However, I waited a week to write the review and I am glad I did. After washing (on cold, low dry) the robe shrunk substantially which for me made it a perfect fit. It looks cute over the thermal pjs and now that it fits more like the picture I am so glad I held out! It does have a unique fit but once I figured out how to maneuver the neckline it became just what I was looking for. I am tired of the same old spa robe look and have found sweater robes to be too flimsy. I got this on a really good sale, and I feel due to the initial issues and the later shrinkage that I paid a fair price - had I ordered down again I would have been disappointed after washing!
I had to try this robe as it looks so cozy but everything the other reviewers have noted is correct and, very sadly, I just can't seem to get it to work. The fabric is lovely and soft and kudos to GH for trying to push the design of a basic piece and make it special: The back seam is a single V-shape (similar to some Western style shirts) which joins with the raglan sleeve. Unfortunately, coupled with the very pronounced shawl collar, it makes for an uncomfortable and bulky feel 'round the neck and shoulder blades.
This looked like the perfect not too bulky, not my-mother's-fuzzy-bathrobe robe. The "cocoon" stitching at the shoulders instead makes it feel tight. I appreciate the attempt at a unique less bulky fit, but the panel that was used at shoulders is too small compared to the rest of the garment. I have muscular arms and did order one size up. The arms were fine. The shawl collar was also too bunchy behind the neck.
I ordered this robe two sizes up because of the comments of one customer who said the sleeves were very tight, so I did the same, but discovered that was too much---one size up, maybe. Overall nice quality: soft, cozy warm, but found the shaping around the shoulders to be unflattering---perhaps suited to a woman with a larger bosom?? Not sure. Nothing truly "wrong" with the robe---it just wasn't a "WOW" for me.

Review 5 for French Terry Cocoon Robe
Location:Atlanta, GA suburb
Date:August 23, 2013
I was so happy to see this robe designated as the "Special of the Day." I wear size XS in all I've ordered from Garnet Hill, but ordered a size S to accommodate fitting over pj's, etc. To my surprise, I couldn't hardly get the sleeves over my bare arms. I sent back and ordered up a size. I weigh less than 90 lbs so would not consider my body to be a typical size medium! Hope new one will fit because otherwise I liked the fabric, style and color.
